Spring up the Wazoo

Stolen from Jeremy Denk;
"bank of TVs turned to news programs filled with prefabricated crap, political “discussion” that consists of idiots refuting idiots … all of these moments, in their monotony and convenience, are inelegant."

Opinions like that make me feel warm all over.

As long as we've lowered ourselves to the political, how 'bout that Obama guy?
How does he expect us to accept him as a leader if he's going to make speeches that might be considered controversial?
Does he really imagine that we want to think of ourselves as racist?

US?

After Lincoln killed half a million Irish and sent Sherman to punish the south for slavery, thereby blaming the whole thing on "The Negro" and co-incidentally creating the KKK and Jim Crow.

Thanks, Abe, for getting us out of the frying pan. Where's that forty acres and the mule?

I mean, really!

I think Tracy Morgans theory, as expressed on SNL last Saturday, is to the point;

WE ARE A RACIST COUNTRY, THE END!!

So anyway, screw politics, it's spring time again.
Resurrection, time to forget the fears, neuroses, prejudices, trespasses, failures, misspellings, et cetera of the past and renew ourselves with NEW fears, mispellings and exceteras.

Forgive the trespasses of the past and move on to new little fires about this high.

I can feel the little shoots of forgiveness sprouting from my limbs and branches as we speak.
Little green leaves of hope begin to unfurl.

A time of speculation on the commodities of human social intercourse.

O it's going to be a great year.

Stay tuned, we'll be right back after this short commercial break.

It's been so long, but I still have faith that maybe this year I will make it back.
I would so like to try life again.

Hell, Dude Dougie...if Emily is going to try and transition and make it back, why not me too? Since my plunge off the viaduct on my hog I have composed some bangin' tunes; at least the cats here dig 'em.

The whole racist thing brings me down, man. People talk the talk, all about equality, and racial insight, but the common denominator is mistrust. Christ, look at all of you, mostly clustered in ethnic groups, in pockets of like individuals in neighborhoods, in prisons, everywhere. And then there is the mistrust within each ethnicity; Koreans who hate the Chinese, who dispise the Japanese, Blacks who break down their race with hundreds of shades of brown, the product of Mr. Whitey mixing in, Hispanics who argue about which is better, Castillian, Mexican, Central American, South American, mixed with blacks and Indians and Asians, and Arabs, for lack of a better term, and Jews, for lack of a better handle, and the 50 kind of Slavs who fight in the Balkans, and the Jahad against Bush, and the New Crusades branching out from Baghdad--it is a mish mash, man, and only after you leave that horseshit state of affairs, and spend some time on the other side can you fully appreciate and understand the small mindedness, and the raw manipulation, and the servitudes, and the sorry state of perpetual politicians, evoking their versions of All That Is, ignorant as a lump of coal, lethal as a coral snake--so, goddamn, folks, get behind Obama. He is the hope. He is the light. He will lead the way. And that's all that I have to say about that.

"Idiots refuting idiots", yeah--there it is, brother; blatent, as clear as the "clean" knuckles on the fingers of your right hand.

The thing about Obama for me is that he comes out of wildnerness of nowheresville, and when he opens his mouth--he actually has something to say. Oh yes, some of it is political rhetoric, some are platitudes and promises. Christ, the man is endeavoring to get elected don't you know. But he gives the "best" speeches of any politician in memory. Even JFK would applaud how Abama works up a crowd. This level of charisma would be a shame to waste, enit?

Perhaps you are being a bit harsh on old Abe, indulging in sweeping generalities. The man had his emotional problems, and his wife was a nut job, but he took one in the brain pan for the team. And you, sir, are still part of that team. Watch the wonderful HBO series JOHN ADAMS, and see how the founding fathers were already aware of the blemish of slavery, but powerless to stand up the the Southern "gentleman" who manned the first and most powerful colonies. Lincoln needed to "punish" the South. We are still reeling from the prejudice and rancor that sprung from that elitist bunch of lily-livered cotton farmers. MLKing has plenty to say if one just finds the silence to listen to him. Tracy Morgan does have a valid point, but it does not take into account that EVERY damned country is RACIST! So is every school, every office, every rodeo. As a "race", man has a ways to go to polish his neanderthal instincts, and open his heart to those who are different from himself. It is a journey, and we are still in the midst of it.

I do agree with every fiber of my being, however, that Spring is upon us, and green and pink and white shoots are asprouting. It is lovely to see that you noticed, sir. You have stirred me, and others, up this morning, as was your intention. You are the Devil's Advocate. You are the muckracker who lives on the lake. You are the composer who will someday send his music amongst the multitude. You are the blogmaster who keeps me entertained and occupied. You are the oldest friend I am still in touch with. You are who you are and are not another thing.

There is a wonderful song.
I heard it in the early sixties.
It starts out "They're rioting in Africa" and ends "and I don't like anybody very much"
Wish I could get a recording of it.

As per 'ol Abe, I just can't shake the notion that "freeing" people could be done without "killing" people.

Especially since the ones getting killed are of my social station.

.......fuzzy minded one worlder.

Hallo, Lane & Glenn,
What I like about Obama is that (like his former pastor) he "tells it like it is" and does so with rhetorical excellence!
Yae, Obama!
