Santa Claus -
Easter Bunny -
God -
Love -
Honor -
Dignity -

I'm beginning to fear that when I get to -

Death -

That'll turn out to be bullshit, too.

Today, you are writing free verse like Charles Bukowski.

MYTHOS

Santa Claus -
Easter Bunny -
God -
Love -
Honor -
Dignity -

I'm beginning
to fear
that when I get to -
Death -
That'll turn out
to be bullshit,
too.

Heavy duty, man--although your intentions were probably laced with levity, per usual, and tinged with angst, anger, paranoia, and constipation. Maybe you are not bound up though, secondary to your wrestling match with The Virus.

Listen to Eddy. He has layed it out for you, clear as crystal; Emily too. Death is an adventure, a doorway, another quick step into a new place that actually is an old place; a place you have been several times already; the life between life. You are a powerful spiritual entity locked into flesh, an undying immortal spirit temporarily residing in muscle, bone, and a smidgin of cortex, a carbon unit, a flesh machine. So never forget death is your friend; even though "Death", as painted our fears and religious dogmatists, is far from friendly. Its kiss is deadly, cold, and infinite; the big sleep, the dirt nap. To my mind that is THE BIG LIE, the real "bullshit" that we ar force-fed most of our days. Don't buy it. Don't accept counterfeit metaphysics--it ain't the real currency. So buck up. You ain't ready for feathers yet, as Eddy says!

Here I am arriving at the office late. Last night on my commute home it sounded like my muffler blew a hole in it on my '92 Isuzu. I made it to MIDAS before they closed, since they put the muffler on 10 weeks ago. Turned out that my header pipe had blown a hole in it, about 6 inches from the manifold. Also turned out that since Isuzu is not Toyota, the replacement part was "no longer available". So at 7am this morning I was parked at their door, letting the pipe cool down. They started on it at 8am, and it took them over 2 hours to customize and bend and weld and fashion a pipe that would line up to the new gaskets; 220 bucks to fix it. Makes me wish PALMER AUTOMOTIVE was still in business, although I don't know if you could have fixed it or not. You always made your customers feel that you could "fix" anything/everything. Meredith is still under that impression, and so far you have not let her down.

I really did dig your Bukowski poetic rant yesterday; just the kind of thing you whip off with ease, that most of us would have to labor on.

Melva is officiating at an AER conference in downtown Tacoma today and tomorrow. I will bring a copy of SNOW CAKE to CSL for my TFC screening tomorrow night. Life moves on inexorably, tenaciously. My treatments are coming up again next week. I was shocked last month to look at the price tag on the bag of immunoglobulin, and it read $4,000; and I get two of those every month. Without health insurance I would be incapacitated and SOL, for sure.

Squeeze it easy, Sir Lane.

Go back and listen to my cut on my album titled: PEGGY JEAN, all about the time one of my girlfriends choked on some chicken, and died in my arms while I tried to dislodge it. I cursed God. I blamed myself. I was really stupid. You are not stupid, Dougie. So let's get off this "Death" jag, and move on to your music.

Music is where it's at; where "it" will always be. Music will save your immortal soul. Music will sooth your aching heart. Music will get you off. Music will swap spit with you like a 19 year old cheerleader. Music will hug you like an Italian exchange student. Music will pump you up like driving a Ferrari, like creating a violin out of naked wood, like designing a car that will become a boat. Give Music a chance, and it bind your wounds; it will bolster your sagging spirits. French kiss Music and enjoy its tongue.
