I feel just like
You look to me.
You flinch beside one
Straight and true
I wonder what hap-
pened to you.
The same amount
of soil and sun
Why are you the
Unlucky one?

where I've been, but I didn't
realize April was Poetry Month.
O Gnarly Tree,
I feel as thee,
from the pain in my knee
to my lack of espre'
while lacking the key
to do a damned thing about it.
Hey thanks, you stimulated me
to write something, and God
knows it takes a lot to stimulate me.
It is grand that darling Douglas
is writing more poetry. He has a
poet's soul that has to share room
with a rogue composer, and engineer,
a playwright, a mechanical, and
a musician.

Years ago Doug was the only one
who sent me handmade cards on
Christmas. The first couple of times
it was unique and creative. Then I
figured out he's just a cheapskate.
He can stay in one of my rooms
any time he's on a road trip. Did
I tell you that I created RAMADA INNS?

day. He offered me his autograph.
I thought he was just another
wingnut, or someone who had
seen two many Marx Brothers movies.
