Poetry selections

Twit-ku

I just found my periodic table.
Krypton is a gas
An inert gas
A noble inert gas.
How do you suppose that makes me feel?

Not Twit-ku

My Muse
She is a stiff necked girl
She looks neither to the left
Nor to the right
What she does not see tears at my heart

When she comes to me
My desert is gone
Replaced by a rugged landscape
Of formal rocks
And proud trees
My thirst is forgotten

But where are we?
Who are we?
We say a few words;
What do they mean?

Then she walks away like the last train out of Paris
Leaving a vacuum
For the armies of doubt to invade

She is a stiff necked girl
Yet she sees everything
Does she see me?

And who cares?

I've posted this before. In 2006.

I am going to try real hard to do nothing today.

But there is the possibility that I will string up the violins and take a picture.

"More Backyard" was exciting, but this TWIT-KU OR NOT selection is superb, absurd, meaningful, empty, full, and twelve other sorts of dichotomies. Thanks fo giving me more to post over on our Sister blog, FFTR.

I guess you had post the MUSE poetry before I began to contribute, to be part of the family again It sounds like, or seems influenced by Miss Emily D.

Speaking of family I contacted my brother today after nine months of silence, and he is doing fine. I had been worrying about him. He had been worrying about me. Now both of us can quit worrying.

Melva went out plant shopping this morning for tomato plants and stuff for hanging baskets. Then we will go to Jared's and look at Sparklies, and then off to the Grand Theater where I will watch and then facilitate the discussion of IS ANYBODY THERE? with a 76 year old Michael Caine. Shit he is only about ten years older than we are, man.

Hallo, Lane!
Why not try out your violin by playing a scale on it after you string it up?
Speaking of violins, at the Castle Concert Saturday (2 May), I asked the manager if he finally had a chance to appreciate your String Quartet No. 2. He had not; besides his jobs as manager of these Castle Concerts and as a 2nd Violinist in the State Orchestra here, he and his wif have split up the details of which have added to his work-load. The State Orchestra now has two weeks off, and he hopes to give your work consideration then.
Another problem: The 'cellist in another string quartet here that I had planned to give your Quartet to if the Rosenbusch Quartet does not grab it up, is terminally ill and that Quartet plans to "fold" without her; as another member told me, "We are all over 50, so none of us have healthy prospects"; I remonstrated "The Talvis are probably both over 50 and still performing, so there's no reason for you to give up if you can find another 'cellist should Andrea not recover".

Damn, you inspired a Twit-ku from me that has emerged over on FFTR. I do not know how Tweety-bird has become the symbol of Twit-ku for me, but there it is.

My cataract seemed worse this week end, in several instances having trouble reading, playing cards, seeing faces clearly, reading street signs. But, hell, it's hours are numbered. Wednesday will be here in a breath ro two, and then it is Adieu to those pesky opacities.

Mr. anonymous, hold it right there! I won't turn 50 for 40 more days, 10 hours and 30 minutes.
