today

Today included a trip to our financial adviser, we're O.K.
Then lunch at a restaurant we've never been to before.
Lemon chicken sandwich and a glass of pretty good chianti.
Next came the pick up of the new Volvo part that was to see us through the wait for the Prius.
New part worse than the old, didn't work at all.
Took it back to B n B auto parts who refunded even though its an electrical part and they don't always do that sort of thing.
Whew!

And Thanks B n B auto parts in Renton.

Trying to figure out what to do in the meantime.
With the bad gas mileage we're getting, it's cheaper to rent a car for out trip to Lake Quinault.
I wonder if they rent Smart cars.

Musically and Dukely nothing is happening.

But, I've got two Emily vids to watch so my poetic and psychological education can continue.

I love the rain we had, couple of real gully washers down here in the South Sound. The lawn is grateful. I guess it bought into the old adage that "brown is beautiful". Yeah, I know, if I had given a flip, I would have watered it, but it is more fun to have the one lawn on the block that is well mowed but not green. It gives us a lot of the neighborhood focus.

I am very proud of your decision to go Hybrid. We are into year 2 with our Camary Hybrid and could not be happier with it. We looked at the Prius several times over several years and I just did not respond emotionally to it. It was like sitting in a Rainier Beer can. The steering felt funny. The shocks are for shit. The brakes felt spongey. The spoiler on the rear window "spoiled the view; not enough head room. Most of the dash controls seem to be still set up for the original right hand drive prototype Toyota set up in Japan the five years they had it there before importing the model here. You will love the synergy drive. It is very smooth, no clicks or bumps as you need more power for hills and such.

God, is it already time for the Lake Quinalt trip? Which cabin will you stay in? Or do you always stay in the same one? More conversations with the Lake Quinalt sea serpent, what's es' name, too enit?

I guess we all need to say a little Volvo prayer for the interim. When do you get your Prius? Next year? Did it require a grand earnest money to order it, or to just test drive one? The pricks really do have us bent over a barrol, don't they?

What kind of Emily Dickinson videos did you come up with from the library? Biographical stuff? A copy of THE BELLE OF AMHERST starring Julie Harris?

Did you ever get over to FFTR and out the Duke Nukem photos?

I think that would more appropriately be Lake "Quinault" there, Butch dude. Really, you should blue pencil a bit before hitting the publish button. Oh well, it just shows that you are human like the rest of us; in too much of hurry, or don't give a shit.

The vids at the library had two different titles so I checked them both out but turns out they are both the same Julie Harris play.
Unfortunately, stage plays require "projection" (did you know that?)(Hah)
Emily's words just dont work at the top of even Ms Harris' lungs.
Also there was a lot of editing of our sweeties' life.
She never begged to have her stuff published.
She refused most beggers, in fact.
She did not pine after boys in school, she clung to her girlhood friends long after they moved on in life.
Her stern and remote father and her meek mother gave her a terrorizing look at adult heterosexual roles,
It was interesting, but i didnt like it.
Your idea of Lily Tomlin as E.D. in a movie sounds more like it.
L.T's sense of irony is perfect for the part.
E.D. was a bit chubby (I gather) in her later years and Lily is still thin (I believe) but no matter.
Also one would need to cast the other people in her life; father, mother sister brother clergymen etc.

We looked at the odo on the Volvo, we looked at gas prices, we looked at the Prius, we test drove one (a used one, which costs more than a new one)
we paid a deposit, and we wait two months or so.
The rear vision is not as bad as the big thick windshield pillars blocking front side vision.
There are three mirrors to the rear.
It is nice and smooth and has terrific turning radius.
The brakes on the one we tested were tight with a bit more boost than I'm used to on the Volvo.
Ride seemed a little stiff, but new shocks are like that.
I liked it as much as I'm ever going to like any non-Ferrari.
