Road to ruins Page one

First day in Page, we did nothing except find a motel and have a steak dinner.
The motel did have a internet connected computer, so we e-mailed home for the last time on the trip.
Saw Chief Tsosies Antelope Canyon tour bus and decided to stay the next day and take the tour.

This is what Antelope canyon looks like.

Then we went to a scenic lookout that gave us a nice view of the surrounding countryside and the river and the dam.
Drove down and toured the dam.
Watched "Zorro" on teevee.

Next day we pulled out of Page.
Pausing only long enough to buy some cookies from the Safeway across the street.

Nice day

Whoah! That empty spot after the
(12) photos scared me. I thought you had fallen off the stool as you were keyboarding, or passed out, or lost your mind, or some such nonsense. But how refreshing to see it was probably some kind of techno glitch.

When Melva and I were in Page, AZ. we looked at the Antelope Canyon tour, but it seems a little expensive, and the shuttles were not air conditioned, and it was in the triple digits for heat index--so we passed on it. It does look neat, though. Maybe we will spring for it next time.

Love this docudrama, ROAD TO RUIN. More, more, sir!

Your comment on NOTES FROM THE KELP was beautiful, sensitive, insightful, and cool. I poeticized it, of course, and put it on FFTR with a painting by Rick Mobbs. How great is that?

A DELICATE BALANCE

These sort
of rock art pieces
always seem musical
to me.

Somehow
I imagine
that the rocks would
sound out tones
if struck.
Or that they
are chuckling
among themselves.
Or singing
as the river
provides backup.

Yours seems
to be calling out
to the Canadian ones;
as if all the rocks
in the world
are connected
by a ethereal vibrational frequency
that only lunatics
like me
can perceive.

I mean
think of
a crystal set radio.
The crystal vibrates,
the radio amplifies
and,”come in Rangoon”
Or the caves
that have
the musical stalactites.
Or Lelavision’s rock xylophone;
(lithophone, I guess.

We were lucky to be there in the spring before ti got too hot.
It was a nice ride in an air conditioned Chevy Tahoe (or something like)with Marvin, our guide.
Not very far From Page.
Maybe a quarter mile walk through the canyon and back.
Pretty impressive.
It's hard when posting pictures because the preview is different from the editing place and they both are different from the posting.
I posted this one about five times before I gave up getting it like I wanted it.
