Why work?

Today would be a good one for a nice long bike ride, but there is yard work to be done.

What is the best classical event of the last 50 years?

Go help him out, this is all I can come up with

    Speight's Ring Cycle.
    Bullet's gift of KING-FM
    Tom Baker's Salon.
    Gerry's arrival.
    Gerry's departure.
    Rainier Symphony's Symphonie Fantastique.
None of it seems truly outstanding.

    Quiet Day

Sunday I will be taking a quiet day.

After all … how can you miss me if I won’t go away? ;-)

Oboists have all the best ideas.

    Rhymes too......

Maybe when Tommy Knowles got that orange roaside construction tape caught in his bicycle spokes and took Joe and me into the deep ditch with him.

Oh, a classical moment, sorry. Thought you said "classic" moment.

It was pretty classic, tho. All 3 of us unscathed, luckily.

If you want to weep a lot cathartically, and have a heart-warming experience, go out and see THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES. Melva had read the book. Have you read it; South Carolina in 1964, the birth of a New World--Kennedy was dead and Civil Rights was just stirring like a sleeping dragon, like a Kodiak coming out of hibernation. Dakota Fanning continues to be a fine actress even as a young teenager.

I have been on a one man crusade to put as many of Sherman Alexie's poems on FFTR as I can. I ran out of the easy to find, and hard to find stuff out on the web, and so now I am transcribing poems right out of his books. Several dozen now are done, and many more to go. A great and shining project, enit?

    J.F. "classic" moment, eh.
Mine would have to be getting booted out of Beneroya hall.

    Glad you survived yours.

    Hallo, Lane!
How could you say "none of them is really great" when one of them is the Seattle "Ring"-prosduction?

It's just that, after decades of study, I cant for the life of me figure out what "great" actually means.
